The month of October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I'm sure you've noticed that many people get behind it and support the cause.

Many people sport the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon on their vehicles, some even have it tattooed on themselves; it doesn't matter how you support the cause, just that you do.

Breast cancer affects 1 in every 8 woman. It doesn't discriminate against age, race, or even gender. Yes fellas, guys can actually get breast cancer, too. But remember, early detection saves lives.

One thing that I think is pretty cool is that local police departments and even the Maine State Police are supporting the cause.

This is the second year in a row that the Houlton Police Department is doing its part to increase awareness of the disease by wearing pink bands around their badges.

Way to go HPD!
