The Senior League World series is over for the Old Town all-stars after falling to Ohio 9-2 in the semifinals leaving just two teams left to play for the championship.Ohio will face the defending champions form West University Little League from Texas at 12 noon on Saturday. Texas eliminated Pennsylvania 4-1 to earn a spot in the title game.

Ohio will play for the Senior League World Championship Saturday after beating the hosts from Old Town, 9-2, in Thursday's second semi-final.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Ohio erupted for seven runs in the inning by coupling four hits with four free passes from Old Town pitching.

Derek Miller led the way for the Central champs, going 3-for-3 with a double, 3-RBI, and two runs scored. Tyson Gingerich and Chris Kline each added a pair of RBI while Bryan Yoder went 2-for-3 with a double.

Mitch Massaro went the distance on the mound for Ohio, striking out 11 while allowing just five hits and two runs.

Old Town starting pitcher, Ethan Stodder, began the game strong by striking out a pair in the first inning but took the loss, conceding four runs in 3.2 innings.

Stodder and Austin Sheehan each had multi-hit games for Old Town, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, and 2-for-3 with an RBI, respectively.

The hosts end a successful week at the Senior League World Series with a record of 2-2 and became the second consecutive host team to make it to the semi-final round. (Bangor, '14).

Ohio will battle Texas for the world title, Saturday at 12 noon. That game will be televised on ESPN 2 and you can hear the call on 92.9 FM and streaming on 929THETICKET.com.

 

Doxakis, Texas, Stymie Pennsylvania To Get Back To Title Game

The defending champions are back in Saturday's title game after defeating Pennsylvania, 4-1.

John Doxakis threw a complete game for Texas, allowing five hits and one run while striking out five.

Doxakis also led his side's offense, going 1-for-2 with two runs batted in.

Four members of Texas' lineup recorded multi-hit games as the defending champs out-hit Pennsylvania, 12-to-5.

Ryan Lowry went 2-for-2 with a double in the losing effort, while Randy Meehl added a pair of hits. The loss went to Nick Pagano, who pitched two innings, allowing four hits and one run.

Pennsylvania's run comes to an end with the U.S. East representatives posting a 2-1 record in the tournament.
