Power to the pedal

You've been anticipating this day for months now, and it's finally here! Power to the Pedal is happening for 12 hours beginning at 9 a.m. today, and running right through 9 p.m. tonight! Are you ready to ride?

What's more fun than riding a bike? Well, riding a stationary bike to help raise funds to improve dialysis care in the County! We are so pumped for Power to the Pedal, which is coming up on Friday, May 29th at County Physical Therapy in Presque Isle! And we need you! Round up a team; friends, co-workers, your family and school buddies!

Aroostook County – The wheels are in motion in Mars Hill, as KIDZ KLUB members practice for their kick-off event on Saturday, May 30, beginning at the Mars Hill Fire Department where participants can walk or bike to raise funds for County Dialysis Center in Presque Isle.

Aroostook County – When Valley Rivers Middle School teacher Lori-Ann Saucier Levesque first came across a news report about an upcoming event aimed to raise funds to benefit County Dialysis Center, she was unsure how to support the cause, which was near and dear to her heart. Then inspiration struck – if she was unable to participate in TAMC’s Power to the Pedal, she’d organize her own Bike-a-Thon

What is dialysis? Well, according to the National Kidney Foundation, dialysis is a treatment that does some of the things done by healthy kidneys. It is needed when your own kidneys can no longer take care of your body's needs.

You may be asking yourself "just why is the Power to the Pedal Fundraiser so important for the County Dialysis Center?" The answer is simple. Without the County Dialysis Center, where would people go for treatment? Bangor? Boston? What kind of life would that be? Having to travel hours upon hours a few times a week, or even patients and families uprooting their entire life to move closer

While they may not be able to physically attend next month's Power to the Pedal in Presque Isle, some students in Fort Kent have come up with their own way of participating in the event and raising money for County Dialysis. Students are Fort Kent Elementary School will hold a bike-a-thon on Saturday, May 30th with proceeds going to the County Dialysis Center in Presque Isle.
