Doug and I were talking on the show yesterday about bands that could have or should have stopped at a certain point, yet chose to keep making music. Who are we to say when someone's peak is or was or why anyone would want to stop making a living at something they love and were probably born to do, but in a strictly trivial way we thought we'd ponder the thought.

Today on the show we talked about cover songs that are better than the original, or at least you think of the cover before you think of the original. We asked for your input and you did not disappoint. Here's a short list of some cover songs you deemed better.

I did a poll earlier about the 'Best Classic Rock Blues Covers.' I included 5 or 6 songs only because I didn't have room to put them all because there are so many. My apologies if I missed some. Here are a few songs that garnered the most votes on the show today, separate from the online poll.

It's no secret I'm an 80s kid. I bring it up all the time. On the way to work I heard the Robert Palmer song 'Addicted to Love.' I thought about where I was and what my life was about when that song first came out. My thoughts wandered, as they often do when I'm driving, to other music of that era and how it was categorized.

So I'm driving to a neighboring town over the weekend to play a show with my band. My band is a four piece but we weren't always. We've been together on and off for nearly 19 years and there was a long stretch where we were basically a three piece, just guitar, bass, and drums. There are quite a few classic bands that broke through with only three members. Who do you think had it down to a science

We're all friends here, right? We like our rock hard and classic, for the most part. Well, at least classic. After all, we are a 'classic rock' radio station. I know there has to be a band or even a song that was a guilty pleasure for you in the past, that may not sit well with your classic rock friends. I've admitted to my fascination with Rick Springfield and how his music affected my youth. Wha

I remember when I was a 'tween' it was all about skateboarding, girls, and music on the radio. I came up in the 80s and there was a huge divide between mainstream rock and new wave and straight pop music. But to this day, I remember the very first album I bought with my own money. It was actually a cassette.

Some people are simply wired differently. Their genius is understated. Their ears pick up things in a unique way and they are able to both dissect and piece them together into something completely new. I'll be sharing some of these works of art on the show today but you need to see/hear this stuff.

Here's a great way to end the week. Let's get everyone talking about the fact that they hate their current job and were destined to be doing something else. On top of that, it's freezing cold here close to the 'Great White North.' Real good idea. All kidding aside, most people had other plans for their lives and were not afraid to share.

2013 is coming to a close, finally. It wasn't a terrible year, as years go, but there were definitely some trying times for a lot of people. I watched the recap of the year on the news and was shaken by the number of natural disasters and hard times that fell on this country and the world. For this post I will choose to focus on the positive.
