The Woodstock Fire Department responded to the blaze on Route 585 in East Newbridge, New Brunswick shortly after 6 a.m., according to the Bugle-Observer.

Fire Chief Ricky Nicholson said firefighters made a “good stop" in battling the blaze, which was fully involved when they arrived. After fire crews knocked down the flames enough to get inside the building, they had to use caution as the floor was completely burned out.

Nicholson said no one was living in the house and the owner is currently in Germany. The home is listed for sale.

The fire caused extensive damage to the basement and two floors, Nicholson said. Investigators are working to determine the exact point of origin.
