Suspect Named in Waterville Murder Case

A Winslow man has been named as a murder suspect in a shooting turned fatal in downtown Waterville. Matthew Partridge, 30, is currently in jail, after he shot 26-year-old Justin V. Smith of China.

The shooting happened outside the ‘You Know Who’s Pub’ in Waterville around 11 p.m. Witnesses heard the two men arguing and then a shot was fired. Smith was taken by an ambulance to Maine General hospital in Waterville, where he died.

Shortly after Partridge left the crime scene, police officers pulled him over and arrested him. According to the police report there is no indication that the two men knew each other prior to the altercation.
