A new survey of Americans making less than $50,000 a year shows that 45% would rather skip the holiday season rather than take on the financial burden.  Another 45% said they won’t have enough money to cover their holiday costs.

41% of those surveyed say they will take advantage of store layaway programs.  In fact, half of those in higher income brackets will be using layaway programs this year.  85% say they will spend the same or less money this year than they did in 2011.  It’s hard to believe that with Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind us we’ve already spent over $50 billion so far.  What ‘fiscal cliff’ are those politicians talking about anyway?
