A farmer reported a maroon, 1995 GMC Yukon stolen from the headlands of his farm near Route 1A in Hamlin. He said that law enforcement had visited him the previous day while they were searching for Michael Doucette, who at the time was wanted by Van Buren Police.

A subsequent review of security video showed Doucette on the farmer’s property. Doucette was later arrested in Rumford and brought back to the Aroostook County Jail, where he has been charged with Gross Sexual Assault.

Sheriff’s Deputies were able to gather evidence of a general area where the stolen vehicle may have been stashed by Doucette in Piscataquis County. The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office and the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department were called, given the directions, and they began their search.

On Friday afternoon (5/27) Dover-Foxcroft Police located the vehicle abandoned in a recently harvested wood lot off the Gray Hill Road. The vehicle was processed for evidence and towed to an impound facility. The vehicle has since been returned to the owner.

Sheriff’s Deputies have subsequently charged Doucette, who remains at the County jail, with theft (class C) and operating after habitual offender revocation (class C). If convicted of these crimes he faces up to five years in prison.
