The Bowdoin College Polar Bears will play of the NCAA Division III National Championship Saturday night after dominating Wartburg College (Iowa) 90-62 in the national semi-final Friday night.

The opponent for the national title will be fellow NESCAC conference rival Amherst College (Massachusetts). The Mammoths won their semi-final over Thomas More College (Kentucky) 66-48.

Bowdoin jumped on Wartburg and led 28-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Knights never did get back in the game.

The Polar Bears used great team depth and got scoring from a lot of players to secure the win.

Abby Kelly led Bowdoin with 23 points. Former Bangor HS standout Cordelia Sewart had 9 points and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes. Former Presque Isle HS standout Hannah Graham added 2 points off the bench.

(29-2) Bowdoin and (32-0) Amherst met back on January 27th in a conference game. The Mammoths won that one 49-45.

Saturday night at 8:30pm they meet again...this time for the D-III national title.

NOTE: Bowdoin's only other trip to the Final Four was 2004. They lost in the national championship game to Wilmington (Ohio).
