A 61-year-old Smyrna man was shot and killed Tuesday night in an armed confrontation with a Maine State Trooper and a Sheriff's Deputy from the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office.
Police were called to the home located at 645 Smyrna Center Road, just before 8 p.m. after family members reported that a man was suicidal.
According to Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, state police say the man shot and killed in an armed confrontation with police has been identified as 61-year-old Kenneth Kreyssig, who lived at the home with his elderly mother.
The two police officers involved in the shooting are State Police Sgt. Chad Fuller and Aroostook County Deputy Sheriff Stewart Kennedy.
