It sounds like science-fiction. In a way, I suppose it still is. But it’s about to become real: A “100 percent immersive” Star Wars hotel. It’s coming in the near future (not a long time ago in this case) to Walt Disney World.

Disney Parks Blog has the details, following their announcement at D23. The unique “themed resort” will compliment the new Star Wars land, now formally referred to as “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” that will open at Disney Hollywood Studios. As Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek put it:

“It’s unlike anything that exists today. From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

Okay, those beds do not look comfortable. But as this last piece shows, every room in the hotel supposedly has a window view of outer space. So it’s got that going for it.

It sounds ambitious, wild, and potentially a lot of fun. Something tells me a lot of nerds, both young and old, are going to want a room. At this point, no opening date for the resort has been announced.
