Penobscot County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Springfield man who was illegally in possession of a number of guns.

Where Did Deputies Search?

Members of the Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant Monday morning on West Tucker Ridge Road in Springfield. The warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation.

Who Was Arrested?

As a result of that warrant, James Elliott, 65, of Springfield was arrested. He's charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Officials have not commented on who was allegedly threatened by Elliott.

Why is Elliot Prohibited From Owning Guns?

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office reports that Elliot has an extensive criminal history, including felony convictions from the state of Kansas. Now, officials are looking into how he gained possession of multiple firearms that were found in his home. Elliott lived alone and was taken into custody without incident.
