Saturday afternoon wasn't a good day for the Boston Red Sox Chris Sale, Alex Cora or Boston Red Sox fans. Sale was shelled allowing 8 runs in 3.2 innings, and ejected in the bottom of the 4th inning after getting pulled from the game. The Red Sox have lost 6 in a row, the longest in 4 years.

Cora was ejected in the 4th inning by home plate umpire Mike Estabrook who also chased Sale.

Sale allowed 9 hits, striking out 4 and gave up 2 homers to DJ Le Mahieu, a solo shot in the 1st inning to lead off the game and then a 3 run homer in the 4th, when the Yankees scored 7 runs.

The Red Sox managed only 5 hits, 2 of them homers, by Andrew Benintendi, his 12th in the 2nd inning and by Jackie Bradley Jr. his 12th in the 5th inning.

The Red Sox and Yankees will play Game 2 of the doubleheader Saturday night.Brian Johnson is scheduled to pitch for Boston  with the pregame starting at 6:05 and 1st pitch at 7:08.
