Over the weekend South Portland's Jon Gillies won a NCAA national championship with the Providence College Friars. Today he is set to sign a professional contract with the Calgary Flames.

According to a report in the Calgary Sun newspaper, Gillies has opted to give up his senior year in college and will sign with the Flames, the team that made him their 3rd round draft pick in 2012.

Gillies won 60 games over three years as the Friars top goalie. HIs career was capped off with a 49 save performance in the 4-3 win over Boston University in the title game.
