Snowmobiler Dies in Crash Outside Edmundston [UPDATE]
A 48-year-old man was killed in a snowmobile accident on a trail in Rivière-Verte, New Brunswick Saturday night.
According to CIMT-TV, firefighters from Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska were called to the scene near the Lunts Creek Road at about 8:15 Saturday night. Ambulance New Brunswick personnel and an RCMP coroner were also dispatched to the site, just across the border from Grand Isle, Maine.
The victim has been identified as Léo Alfred Thibeault of Saint-Anne-de-Madawaska. The RCMP says it appeared Thibeault lost control of his sled on a curve and struck a tree. It was snowing steadily at the time, which may have been a contributing factor.
The RCMP continues its investigation into the cause of the accident.
