Second Bomb Threat This Month Reported at Katahdin Elementary School
Maine State Police responded to the Katahdin Elementary School in Stacyville Wednesday morning for the second bomb threat in two weeks.
School officials reported the threat to the State Police Barracks at approximately 9:05 a.m. after a student saw the message on a restroom wall and alerted staff, according to Sgt. Josh Haines.
Both the High School and Elementary School were evacuated until the school could be deemed safe. School officials and Troopers along with a State Police Explosives Detection K-9 checked the building and found no evidence of explosives in the school. This investigation remains active and ongoing, Haines said.
The message was found written on the wall in the same girls’ bathroom as was reported in the earlier incident on October 12th.
Katahdin Elementary School is part of RSU#50, which serves a dozen communities in southern Aroostook and northern Penobscot counties.
Anybody with information, including parents and students, is encouraged to call the State Police in Houlton at 532-5400 and ask for Trooper Tim Saucier.
