The West District RCMP is on the scene of a large structure fire Thursday morning on Deer Island, in the St. George area of the Bay of Fundy.

Shortly after 2:20 a.m., RCMP received a report of a fire at the Paturel International Company building, on the Northern Harbour Road on Deer Island, according to Sgt. Chris Henderson. The fire was discovered by employees.

Police say all people inside were able to leave the building unharmed, however the warehouse and lobster packing plant were completely destroyed by the blaze.

RCMP officers remain on the scene Thursday, along with fire crews and investigators from the New Brunswick Fire Marshall's office. The company employs about 100 workers.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
