A 25-year-old Carleton County man who confessed to killing his mother and setting fire to her house will return to provincial court on Wednesday.

Ryan Roy pleaded guilty in November to second-degree murder and arson. Fire crews responded to a house fire north of Hartland in Peel, New Brunswick early on the morning on March 2, 2015.

The body of 52-year-old Phyllis Roy was discovered inside the burned out home. RCMP arrested Roy's son, Ryan, a short time later.

The Crown and defense are expected to make their sentencing recommendations Wednesday, and Roy is scheduled to be sentenced in Woodstock Provincial Court on Friday.
