Honoring the lives and legacies of eight fallen heroes is what the day is all about!

It's the first of it's kind CompetitorME Run For Heroes to be held in Presque Isle on Saturday, May 9th, 2015.

The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at Riverside Park. It's a Kids’ 1-mile Fun Run and 5k Run/Walk to support current and past U.S. service members.

Run for HEROES is a 5K run and walk that will honor the lives of the eight fallen heroes from the region who have served since September 11. 2001.  The event will also show support for those who currently serve, have served, and others who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

The fallen heroes from northern Maine who will be recognized are: SGT Blair Emery of Lee, SPC Dustin Harris of Patten, SFC Aaron Henderson of Houlton, MSG Robert Horrigan of Limestone, SGT Joel House of Lee, Cpl Dustin Libby of Presque Isle, SFC Jonathan Lowry of Houlton, and 1st Lt James Zimmerman of Houlton.

Veterans are encouraged to wear camouflage as a symbol of their service.

Cost is: $7 for the Kids’ Fun Run; $12 for the Youth 5k; and $22 for the Adult 5k. All proceeds will go to The Summit Project.
