After taking a defensive lineman in the first round of the NFL draft, the New England Patriots added two more players to that side of the ball Friday. In the second round the Pats surprised everyone by selecting safety Jordan Richards from Stanford who many projected to go in the 5th or 6th round. He is a three time PAC 12 academic All-American and a three year starter for the Cardinals. Last season his 79 tackles was third on the Stanford defense and also had 3 interceptions.

The Patriots third round pick was another defensive lineman as they chose Geneo Grissom from Oklahoma. During his Sooner career he played every position on the defensive line which are the types of players Coach Bill Belichick like. The 6'3" 265 pound Grissom had his most production in the last two seasons when he posted 79 tackles including 8 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss.

Today is the final day of the draft and the Patriots should be busy with 3 picks in the fourth round, 1 in the fifth, 2 in the sixth and 1 more in the 7th.
