University of Maine defensive lineman Pat Ricard was named to the third team of the STATS Football Championship Subdivision All-America team on Tuesday.

Ricard played in all 11 games for the Black Bears in 2016 and was fourth on the team with 50 tackles and also added 5.5 sacks for the UMaine defense.  He had 25 solo tackles and was one of the leaders on the defense that went 6-5 under first year Head Coach Joe Harasymiak.

The Colonial Athletic Association led all conferences with 16 All-America picks, followed by the Missouri Valley Conference which had 15.

The FCS championship game is set for January 7th from Frisco, Texas, featuring James Madison from the CAA and Youngstown State.
