After losing the 1st 2 games of the 3 game series, the Boston Red Sox sent ace Chris Sale out to the mound, and ended up beating the Houston Astros 4-3 on Sunday, May 19th to win 1 of the 3 games.

Sale didn't figure in the decision despite throwing 106 pitches in 5.1 innings. He struck out 10 for the 5th time this season and now has struck out 10 or more batters in 4 consecutive starts. He allowed 3 runs, 4 hits and walked 10

Marcus Walden came on with the bases loaded in the 6th inning and induced an inning ending double play ball. He ended up pitching 1.2 innings and picked up the win. He's now 6-0 on the season.

Matt Barnes retired all 3 batters he faced in the 8th inning and Brandon Workman pitched the 9th inning for his 1st career save. 21 of Workman's 23 innings have been scoreless this season.

Michael Chavis was 2-3 with a solo homer in the 5th inning, an absolute blast going 420 feet over the Green Monster. Since being called up and playing his 1st game on April 20th, Chavis leads Boston with 8 homers and 22 RBIs.

Xander Bogaerts was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. His 2-out double in the 7th gave the Red Sox the 4-3 lead.

Christian Vazquez was 2-4 and is batting .528 (19-36) since May 4th.

The Red Sox are now 24-22 and in 3rd place, 4.5 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees.
