The RCMP says an autopsy was conducted and has confirmed that the body is that of a 71-year-old man from Tracadie who had been reported missing by his family on May 5.

Marcel Richard was last seen walking north on Principale Street near La Caisse Populaire in Sheila, N.B.

An RCMP helicopter, K9 unit, members of the Miramichi and Chaleur ground search and rescue teams and local volunteers joined in an extensive search for Richard.

Sgt. Marc Beaupré of the Tracadie Detachment says the investigation has determined that foul play was not involved in the man's death.
