RCMP Calls Death of Man in Moncton Fire Suspicious

The RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating the death of a man following a house fire early Thursday morning in Moncton.

The Moncton Fire Department responded to a fire at a triplex on the corner of Sumac and Drummond Streets shortly after 4 a.m. The Codiac Regional RCMP was called in after firefighters found the body of a man inside the building, according to a statement from Constable Jullie Rogers-Marsh.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one unit. The other two units were not damaged in Thursday's fire.

At this time, the death is considered to be suspicious and the cause is under investigation, Rogers-Marsh said.
