Gas prices in New England took a jump this past week.

Here in Maine, the price at the pump went up 4.7 cents in the past week to $2.34 a gallon. That's according to a survey of Maine gas stations by GasBuddy.com. As of early Monday morning, most stations in Presque Isle were charging $2.49 a gallon.

Elsewhere around New England, New Hampshire's gas prices went up by 4.3 cents a gallon and Vermont's rose by 3.3 cents to $2.34 a gallon on average.

Meanwhile, the national average rose by 3.5 cents to $2.31 a gallon. That's 18.2 cents a gallon higher than last year and a jump of 8.3 cents from last month.
