Prophets of Rage have been, well, all the rage lately! Using the election year in the U.S. as a steady stream of fuel for their ever-growing fire, the band took the stage for an outdoor performance which aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (July 26).

As Kimmel stated while introducing the band, Prophets of Rage made their television debut on the late night talk show, opening their performance with the reimagined Public Enemy track, "Prophets of Rage." Following the introduction, an air raid siren signaled the beginning of the set as each member stood in solidarity with raised fists.

The second song to be played (video below) was the Rage Against the Machine classic, "Killing in the Name," featuring altered lyrics in the second verse to reflect their distaste with the current state of politics. The line "some of those that work forces / are the same that burn crosses" to "some of those in office / are the same that burn crosses" and "some of those up in congress / are the same that burn crosses," alluding to the racial divide that is currently at the forefront of American news and politics.

Prophets of Rage consists of Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk alongside Public Enemy's Chuck D. and DJ Lord as well as Cypress Hill's B-Real. The group performed in protest outside of the Republican National Convention in Ohio and Morello hinted they would be in the area at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Penn.

Catch the band on tour beginning Aug. 19 all the way through Oct. 16 with AWOLNATION. A full list of dates can be found at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
