Maine State Police say Jillian Madore was traveling north on I-95 in Smyrna shortly after dark when she lost control of her vehicle. The 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer went off the right side of the highway, skidded down a steep embankment, and came to rest in some trees, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Clark.

Madore sustained minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital. Police say she was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle suffered extensive front end damage in the crash.

Sgt. Clark said in a press release on Sunday that Madore had been drinking while driving and was operating on a conditional license. The woman was arrested at the scene for operating under the influence of alcohol and taken to the Aroostook County Jail.

She is to appear in Houlton District Court on November 8.

The Oakfield Fire Department, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Houlton Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
