Presque Isle’s Brian Hamel to Join Maine Delegation for Special Olympics USA Games
The largest delegation of Maine athletes ever sent out of state for the Special Olympics Games will depart on Saturday, June 14th from Portland. 60 athletes, youth leaders, Unified partners, and coaches, including basketball coach Brian Hamel, will be heading to the national games in New Jersey this weekend.
3500 athletes in all, plus 10,000 volunteers are expected to descend on the Garden state from June 14th through the 21st for the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, showcasing the abilities of athletes with intellectual disabilities and promoting acceptance and inclusion through sports.
