Presque Isle Men Jailed After Cocaine & Marijuana Found in Car
Two Presque Isle men were arrested during a traffic stop on I-95 early Saturday after police discovered drugs in their vehicle.
A state trooper pulled over a vehicle for speeding around 12:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes in Oakfield, according to Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police.
During the stop, it was determined that the driver, 43-year-old Derrick Gravely of Presque Isle, was under suspension. Sgt. Harris said that further investigation revealed the presence of approximately 2 pounds of processed marijuana and approximately 4.5 grams of crack cocaine in the vehicle.
Gravely was arrested for Operating after Revocation and transported to the Aroostook County Jail. A passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Robert Van Houten of Presque Isle, was also arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana and possession of cocaine. He was also taken to the Aroostook County Jail.
Trooper Nick Casavant was assisted at the scene by Trooper Carman Lilley and Trooper Jill Monahan, along with Presque Isle Police Dept.’s K-9 Dozer and handler Officer Kevin Reed. The investigation is continuing.
