According to the Presque Isle Police Department, 34-year-old Cecil "Scott" Ireland recently left his laptop at a pawn shop as collateral for a cash loan.

Later, the pawn shop clerk mistakenly gave the computer to a woman who returned to pay off her loan and pick up her laptop. After taking the computer home, the woman was shocked to find a substantial collection of sexually explicit images of children and called the Presque Isle Police Department.

Presque Isle Police Chief Matt Irwin said that Detective Bill Scull was able to identify the owner of the laptop. At the same time Scull received a call from police in El Paso, Texas inquiring about a person who had been sending child pornography to one of their undercover officers.

Detective Scull and federal agents executed additional search warrants at Ireland’s residence on Monday and took him into custody on charges of Possession of Sexually Explicit Material (Child Pornography).  Ireland was released on bail. The investigation continues and additional charges are likely, Chief Irwin said.

If you have any information that you think might be relevant to this investigation, please contact Detective Bill Scull at the Presque Isle Police Department.
