Pizzaria Serving Up Pies to the Homeless

The season of giving may be over, but one area business is definitely paying it forward.

Steve Eyler, Executive Director of Homeless Services of Aroostook, which operates the Sister Mary O'Donnell Shelter, was contacted recently by Jason and Angel Michaud. The Michauds operate the Pizza Box here in Presque Isle and they decided that they would like to bring fresh, hot pizzas once a week to the folks staying inside the Shelter. Eyler said he must have looked like a deer in the headlights on hearing the proposal, calling it "a seriously big deal for us." Eyler estimates over the last 5 years, the Shelter has served well over 100,000 meals to the families and children calling it "home" for a season.
