Two former University of Maine Black Bears were on the field for their respective teams on Thursday night as they tried to make the final 53-man roster.

Justin Perillo is currently listed as the third string tight end for the Green Bay Packers and logged two catches for 11 yards in the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.  Perillo is slotted to make the team by those who cover the Packers after Kennard Backman was released earlier this week.  The tight end played in nine games last season and had 11 catches for 102 yards.  He also scored a touchdown for Green Bay in his second NFL season.

Trevor Bates made three tackles for the Indianapolis Colts Thursday and is battling with a strong contingent of linebackers on the roster.  The Westbrook native was drafted by the Colts in the seventh round back in the Spring.

NFL teams will have until Saturday at 4 p.m. to make their final roster cuts to get down to 53.
