The Red Sox lost a slugfest in their first exhibition game, 9-8 to the Minnesota Twins. Dustin Pedoria hit a grand slam and went 3-for-3. Xander Bogaerts hit a 2-run homer.

Joe Kelly struggled in his first outing on the hill. Seven of the first 10 Minnesota hitters reached base. Kelly pitched just 1 2/3-innings, allowing four runs.

The Sox play their JetBlue Park opener today when they host the Miami Marlins. Highly touted LHP Henry Owens pitches in this one.
