The Richibucto RCMP is investigating after an elderly woman was struck and killed by a car Wednesday evening in Aldouane, New Brunswick.


Police responded to the collision on Route 134 shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to Corporal Mario Maillet.

A 75-year-old woman from Aldouane died at the scene as a result of her injuries. Police say it appears that the woman was struck by a car while she was trying to remove something from the road.

A man and woman who were in the vehicle were both taken to hospital and later released.

An RCMP collision recontructionist was called to the scene. The road was closed for several hours.

Police say the collision is still under investigation, however alcohol and speed are not believed to have been contributing factors.
