Was the brand new synthetic field turf to blame for the New England Patriots loss last week?

th,

The field turf was installed in May and passed all safety standards of the NFL and the MLS, as the New England Revolution also play at Gillette during the regular season.  According to Reiss, some of the Pats player complained that the field was ‘especially soft’, prompting the change.

The Pats last made a mid-season field turf change when they replaced their natural grass with the synthetic version in 2006, following a loss to the Jets.

There have three non-contact injuries in the three games played on the turf this season, including Julian Edelman, Cyrus Jones, and Eric Berry.
