The New England Patriots won a bye in this weeks first round of the NFL playoffs and while they sit idle could lose their offensive coordinator as he interviews for open jobs. Both the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons asked the Patriots for permission to speak with McDaniels about their head coaching vacancies which the team granted. Jason La Canfora from CBS Sports is reporting that McDaniels has accepted the opportunity to meet with those teams this week in Foxborough.

The League has a rule that coaches on playoff teams are not permitted to interview for other jobs until they have been eliminated, or in McDaniels case, during a bye week.

ESPN has reported that recently fired New York Jets coach Rex Ryan will also interview with the 49ers.

A reminder that the Patriots will play their first playoff game on Saturday January 10 at 4:30pm. You can hear the game and all NFL playoff games on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket
