Parenting 101 – ‘School Vacation’

So we've cleaned up from Christmas, sort of. For some reason candy has become a part of the holidays so there are still wrappers strewn about the house because my kids can't be bothered to clean up after themselves. Oh yeah, my kids. Did I mention they're home from school for another week? I don't have much hair left to rip out.

I guess I shouldn't be complaining since I'm back to work already. It's my wife that I feel both envy and sympathy for. Envy, because I'd give anything to be able to hang with my kids all day. Sympathy, because, well, she HAS to hang with my kids all day. It's a blessing and a curse sometimes. How do you keep them busy for a week and a half when you still have everything to do?

Luckily, there are plenty of recreational programs available in our town that we can take advantage of. There's also plenty of snow on the ground for them to be frolicking in. That is, if we can get them to go outside. I actually got my 3 year-old to help me snow blow the driveway the other day. That was pretty cool.
