The Red Sox are coming home from the nine game roadtrip in first place in the AL East by two games over Toronto. The Sox won a wild and whacky 11-8 affair Sunday afternoon.

The two teams combined to use 18 pitchers. In the end, the Sox bullpen was better than the Jays pen.

After Clay Buchholz coughed up an early 4-1, he left after three innings, trailing 6-4.

The Sox battled back to tie the game 6-6 only to see Heath Hembree give up a two run homer to Edwin Encarnacion and Toronto led 8-7.

A Hanley Ramirez homer and then the David Ortiz three-run blast gave the Sox a lead they would hold on to.

Skipper John Farrell used Buchholz, Hembree, Noe Ramirez, Robbie Ross Jr., Brad Ziegler, Fernando Abad, Matt Barnes, Koji Uehara and Craig Kimbrell

The Sox are 80-62 and host the Orioles for a series starting Monday night.

There are 20 games left on the schedule.
