A series sweep was not in the cards for the Boston Red Sox as they fall to the New York Mets in the finale 5-4.With the game tied a2 in the bottom of the 7th inning Michael Cuddyer laced a sharp single to left field that drove in Daniel Murphy with the go-ahead run that made the score 5-4.

Cuddyer's hit made up for his defensive miscue in the top of the inning that allowed the Red Sox to score the game tying run.

Despite the loss David Ortiz took over 27th place on the all-time home run list when he launched the 494th of his career.

The Sox complete their road trip with a 4-2 record and return to Fenway Park Monday to begin a 3-game series against the Yankees.
