One Woman Dead, Three Injured in Crash Outside Fredericton

A single vehicle crash just outside Fredericton in the early hours Sunday claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman and left three others hospitalized.

Oromocto RCMP said the crash occurred on Route 10 in Richibucto Road at approximately 12:30 a.m.   The driver apparently lost control and crashed into the ditch to avoid colliding with a moose.

The four occupants of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.

Police say a female passenger from Noonan, N.B. was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  The young woman died as a result of her injuries. Three others remained in the hospital Sunday evening.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. The investigation is continuing.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of her family.
