The Old Town Coyotes won the first state championship in the school’s history after they beat the Freeport Falcons 12-2 in five innings.

The Coyotes gave up two early runs on two walks and a base hit as it looked like the Falcons may have the upper hand.  Old Town would not allow the opposition to score again and put up 12 unanswered runs to secure the gold glove in Class B baseball.  The Coyotes scored four runs in both the first and second innings and then had two more runs in the third.  Freeport shutout the Coyotes in just one frame during the bottom of the fourth before Austin Sheehan hit a two run double in the fifth to give Old Town the walk-off win.

Ethan Stoddard received the win, pitching five innings of two run ball, allowing four hits and three walks.  Old Town ends its season with a 19-1 record and a State Championship for the team’s trophy case.
