Thanks to a $52,000 federal grant, the North Lakes Fire & Rescue Department will be able to purchase 3 thermal imaging cameras as well as replace some fire hose and purchase some large diameter hose.

“This grant will replace our older thermal camera with three new ones so that we can have one at each of our stations.  It will also help us to improve our water supply techniques and replace some of older hose that is well over 20 years old.”  said Fire Chief Darren Woods.

With the grant funding, North Lakes Fire will only be required to cover five percent — or $2,506.00 — of the cost to purchase the equipment.

We have been very fortunate to receive grants like these that will help us to keep our department moving forward and up to safety standards all while keeping our yearly budget small.

The North Lakes Fire & Rescue covers the areas of Sinclair, Cross Lake, Square Lake and Madawaska Lake.  More information can be found at the department’s website at www.northlakesfire.org or on our Facebook page.
