Back on October 10th The UMaine hockey team tied North Dakota 1-1 at the Ice Breaker Tournament in Portland. In fact, Maine won the shootout.

Last night, that North Dakota team won the NCAA National Championship, beating Quinnipiac 5-1.

The Fighting Hawks broke open a 2-1 game with three third period goals.

North Dakota wins its 8th title but the first one since 2000.

UND finishes 34-6-4.
