This weekend was an eventful one for police in Maine and neighboring New Hampshire.

According to WMTW, Police in Windham, Maine got a tip that the man atop New Hampshire's list of most wanted fugitives was in the area, and they arrested him and an associate at a traffic stop on route 302. Drugs and a two-year-old child were also found in the vehicle.

Michael Mendoza was wanted in New Hampshire on warrants for failure to appear, aggravated eluding an officer, a probation violation, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and aggravated driving to endanger.

Mendoza and passenger Brian Higgins were arrested on the scene when police saw a "bag of drugs" sitting in plain view on the floor of the vehicle. 20 grams of fentanyl, 6 grams of cocaine, Suboxone and pills were recovered from the vehicle, according to police.

Mendoza was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in fentanyl and aggravated trafficking in cocaine, in addition to the charges he faces in New Hampshire.

Higgins was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in fentanyl and one count of unlawful possession of Schedule W drug and one count of unlawful possession of schedule Z drug.

No details were provided about the child found at the scene.
