Constable Albert Michelin was arrested Friday following a lengthy investigation conducted by the RCMP Federal Operations Unit in Nova Scotia.

The 50-year-old Michelin had been stationed on the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick since 2010. The RCMP said he has been suspended from duty, with pay, since early 2012 due to unrelated code of conduct investigations.

Michelin was charged Monday with one count of trafficking cocaine and two counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Moncton, N.B. at 1:30 p.m. Monday for a bail hearing.
