A marimba and percussion music duo with a New Brunswick member has made the CBC's Top 10 Classical Albums of the Year list.

The duo called Taktus, took minimalist composer and pianist Ann Southam’s 1981 work Glass Houses, which was inspired by the music of Philip Glass, and adapted it for marimba.

Fredericton native Greg Harrison, along with musical partner Jonny Smith of Toronto, make up Taktus. They arranged six pieces of Southern's suite originally intended for solo piano to works for two marimba players

Harrison, who played jazz and classical percussion at Fredericton High School, called the honour a huge surprise and said he found out about it while searching online.

Glass Houses for Marimba has also been entered for consideration for a Juno and in the East Coast Music Awards.
