A New Brunswick man who shot and wounded another man in the Lac Baker area last fall was sentenced Tuesday in Edmundston Provincial Court to 4 years in prison.

Shawn Jesse Nadeau of Clair pleaded guilty to eight counts against him, including aggravated assault, recklessly discharging a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.  The 27-year-old Nadeau will also be banned from owning a firearm for life.

RCMP said the shooting took place on the night of November 28 along a back road in the Lac Baker area. A 37-year-old man was taken to the hospital in Edmundston with a gunshot wound. Police arrested Nadeau the following day.

Nadeau had also pleaded guilty to charges related to a home invasion and assault that occurred on October 10, 2013 in northwest New Brunswick.
