A 44-year-old man from Tracadie has been charged under the Criminal Code with impersonating a police officer, theft and false pretense.

Christian Doucet appeared in Bathurst Provincial Court on March 18, 2016. He was arrested on March 18, 2016 in Tracadie for several offences related to an incident at a business in Tracadie, N.B.

Doucet was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Tracadie Provincial Court on April 13, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.

Police were called to the Canadian Tire in Tracadie on March 11, 2016 after a man tried to obtain a credit card with information claiming he was employed as a police officer. The man also stole items from the store and then tried to return them.

"The RCMP is releasing his photo in an attempt to help the public identify him," says Sgt. Marc Beaupré of the Tracadie RCMP.  "There may be other incidents that we are unaware of and want anyone who believes they were also a victim to contact us."
