A red hot start and a freezing cold finish is the best way to describe UMaine women's basketball game at Northeastern this afternoon, a 56-44 loss to the Huskies.

The Black Bears had a double digit lead in the first half and then got outscored in the second half 36-21.

Sigi Koizar led Maine with 16 points but 12 of those came in the first quarter. Liz Wood was held to just 2 points.

Samantha Defreese scored 25 to lead Northeastern.

Maine drops to 6-4 with a road game at Dartmouth next on Sunday. Northeastern improves to 5-2.

Some interesting notes from the stat lines...Maine did not attempt a single free throw in the game...The Black Bears shot just 37% from the field while the Huskies shot 49%...The Bears got out rebounded 34-20...Northeastern turned the ball over 20 times to Maine's 12 and still won.
