1.) Nicks decided she wanted to be a performer after a sixth grade talent show.

Nicks says a tap dance routine with a friend at a sixth grade talent show gave her the confidence to become a performer. The routine went really well, and she decided then and there that performing in front of people is what she wanted to do.

2.) Her grandfather was a country crooner, who helped teach Nicks how to sing.
Nicks' grandfather, Aaron Nicks, was a struggling country singer who taught her how to sing and play guitar at a very early age. She would sing and dance with her grandfather at local gigs at bars and gin mills starting when she was just 5 years old.

3.) Nicks met Lindsey Buckingham when she abruptly started singing with him at a high-school party.

Nicks, whose family moved around a lot, met Lindsey Buckingham when she was attending high school in San Francisco. He was playing 'California Dreamin'' by the Mamas and the Papas at a social gathering, and she just got up and started singing with him.

4.) Jimi Hendrix once dedicated a song to her at a gig.

After Nicks joined Buckingham's group Fritz, the band got to play some high-profile gigs opening for Buffalo Springfield, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. One time, Hendrix pointed out Nicks on the side of the stage and dedicated a song to her.

5.) Nicks and Buckingham were just about broke when they joined Fleetwood Mac.

When Nicks and Buckingham got the call to join Fleetwood Mac, they were down to their last few dollars. Nicks was working as a waitress to support them. At their first rehearsal with Fleetwood Mac, they each received $200 from the band to help them get by.
